How not to win friends and influence people

Back in November of last year when the U.S. first became desperate in fighting a foe they couldn't identify they started firing artillery at empty fields or places where they thought the insurgents might launch attacks from.  Of course, dropping bombs on empty fields is a sure sign of desperation.

Unfortunately for the U.S. things have gone down hill since then.  Consequently the military tactics of the U.S. have become more desperate and, in reality, counterproductive.  Witness the bombing of civilian neighborhoods in Falluja.  What they expect to accomplish with this other than totally alienate the Iraqi population is beyond me.  Then again seeing as they aren't about to do the one sensible thing, pack up and leave, this is about the only option they have.
